I am excited to announce that I will be showing my work at the Gerald R. Ford Airport. Ten pieces from my Travel Diaries series will be on display in light boxes on level 2 of the parking garage. I must admit that it was a bit intimidating to know that my work was going to be blown up to 60" x 42". That's big. On the plus side, it meant that I am able to share my thoughts on education on a huge platform. After homeschooling I learned that travel is the best teacher. You could learn about U.S. History from a dusty old text book or you can go out explore new cities. Personally, I learned more on vacation than a four hour lecture ever could.
On that note, I wrapped up this series with a piece dedicated to home: Grand Rapids, MI. Just because I live here doesn't mean I can't take a Segway tour and learn more about my town. Confession: riding a Segway is on my bucket list.
So next time you're flying through the Grand Rapids airport be sure to check out my work along with many other talented artists from Kendall College of Art and Design.
